I saw it a few weeks ago and the commercials made it look extremely pretty. Not sure how the movie was going to turn out but at least you know it would look good enough to see on the big screen. It ended up being a joy I think, you can tell right away how much work Disney put into this film. Something I really enjoyed even before the film started was there was a mickey mouse short, which I assume means they put a lot of high hopes into this film I have not seen a short like that in a long time.
There was a lot of little things that caught my attention, even the clothing caught my attention. The big castle, view shots, animation, I did laugh a little too. The time span was short too, the film fast forwarded through there childhood a little but then came to almost a complete halt when they're grown up. Which I've noticed has happened in a few Disney films, even the first Pirates of the Caribbean. So I'm use to it and doesn't bother me much.
The journey of Anna in this film really looks like it was only two days when after half way through watching it I thought the film was mostly about the journey but it was'nt. The entire film to me, was about Elsa's character development. Anna did not need to be changed at all, she believed in her sister and had hope and was good. Elsa on the other hand had a problem, tried to do it alone and it didn't work, then blew up in her face. So the movie then became about her even though there was a huge chunk in the middle of Anna looking for her.
The animation I think was the best part. The ice and even some of the wide shots were really nice to look at. The characters were alright, none of them annoyed me too much, the snowman did a little, but he was there for the kids. It is a kids movie but it can be enjoyed by many ages.
I did enjoy the personality of the sisters, I thought the ice sister was going to turn evil because of how everyone reacted to her, the movie plot did end up different than what I saw from the commercials. I thought also there would be more characters. I know films like Sleeping Beauty only had a few. Just from the setting and time period of Frozen I expected more characters but there wasn't.
Because it is a Disney film it was a little predictable, which was the only thing that really bothered me but if the film ended any differently I wasn't sure if it would be any good or not. For the ending there wasn't really too much character development in other characters mostly I guess because no one else needed it. I wish it showed Anna suffering a littler over her parents because she has been isolated for so long without any family.
This film is nominated for a few Oscars, if Frozen doesn't win best animated feature then I hope its Wind Rises by My favorite director Hayao Miyazaki. Frozen was a beautiful film.
