So before this film there was Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick. If you have seen Pitch Black this new Riddick film is similar in terms of survival and hunters and monsters. I did like the animation and style for the new creatures on the planet setting. Some of the creatures looked like something out of the Alien films which surprisingly did not bother me.
The intro of the film was Riddick narrating why and how he got on this new planet because the previous film he became emperor of an army and he won but then suddenly wounded up deserted on a planet. As soon as I saw commercials for this film I was thinking that it better be explained of the transition from planet to planet. And it is explained pretty well.
I think there was more action in Riddick Rule the Dark film than the previous films. The violence is more mature than the other two. This film also really shows that Riddick isn't immortal when he almost seems like a god in the other two films. I was surprised to see him struggle as much as he did. I believe that adds to his character it shows there is more to him than his race being so overpowering to the universe.
One of my favorite things about this film was the film was directed by the same guy whose done all the other films and you can tell. If the director changed I would fear how different this movie would have been.
Riddick Rule the Dark moves at a steady pace then pressure and action moves faster about half way and accelerates the rest of the way.
The whole setting to Pitch Black when there's these people hunting for Riddick and there in a desert setting and hiding in like a shack, its the same with this new film. It also made me relate the new characters to the ones from Pitch Black. This Riddick film is very smart with making the actions and traps different than Pitch Black otherwise it wouldn't be as enjoyable.
This film is rated R, its very violent and there is some nudity. R is for Riddick.
Overall I did like the film. Good battle scenes, character development, and good animation. Even though the setting and characters reflected those of Pitch Black its still a different film and stands well on its own.

Legends of Korra Season 2 Review
What is Legends of Korra?:
There was a very popular show on Nickelodeon called Avatar the Last Airbender. There was even a live action film I know was made which I hear was terrible (I have not seen that film). I do not want to get too into detail on the plot or characteristics but basically there's a huge war only one person was able to stop it and that was the Avatar. People bend the four basic elements, fire water, air, and earth. The Avatar is able to bend all four. With the avatar being the most powerful being, he/she is reincarnated every cycle. And Korra is the next reincarnation of Aang, the previous Avatar from The Last Airbender.
Season 1 Summery:
I am here to review season two of the Legends of Korra because it just started last month. A brief of the first season, there was a civil war on benders vs. non-benders and in my opinion, I agreed with parts of both sides. Korra had to take down the leader of this evil gang called the equalist amungs the non-benders and try to make peace with the civil war that was being uprupted by the equalist. the equalist had good intensions but horrible actions and caused a lot of damage to the city. Korra is also much more modern than the Last Airbender since it takes place seventy years after the great war.
Season 2 Review:
Season two is all about the spirit side of the Avatar. The Avatar is not only able to bend all elements, but is the gateway from the human and spirit relm. They rarely touched on this in season one so I am glad there finally doing something. Right now how the season starts out is that there are angry spirits and the Avatar needs to go help the damages they cause, and it starts in her home nation.
And I have to compare this to the Last Airbender, with that show there was a lot of traveling and short stories along with the overall plot. Korra season one, it was all in one city, not too much traveling or relief time. I am glad to say there is going to be traveling in season two of Korra.
There are some really awesome characters and how they relate to the Last Airbender is awesome just because the Last Airbender was such a good series. There's really nice humor, and likable minor characters.
Something that bothered me about this new season is the shadowing animation, it seems really overdone and almost distracting. I didn't really notice it until my friend pointed it out and then it kept bothering me in some scenes. The animation is really good but so good it is a little overdone.
Something else that bothered me was the new "bad guy" seems similar to another character from season one. And I see a lot of good people with bad actions kind of thing and I thought the writers would change it up. Like theres not really a villain right now which is fine but something else should be done, I hope they change it up later on.
Somethibng that has bothered me since season one of Korra was her attitude and lame arguements. From a third person's point of view, she is always picking a fight with everyone, especially her friends and its a little annoying. She always thinks people are againts her and I thought she would not do that as much in season one but the first few episodes Im already tired of it.
I saw the first five episodes, and Im just happy there going to travel, and possibly being some Last Airbender characters in. From what is to come it sounds like parts of the season will be awesome. Overall characters and story, I am not sure about. Plot seems alright but I am not sure where its going quite yet.

For the theme of the Last Airbender and Legends of Korra they explain the back story really well. Instead of theme songs like most shows, they tell a short story on what has happened and what there is to do. So if you didnt understand my summeries very well heres some links that explain everything much better:

Into Self for Intro to Media
Hi my name is Kathryn this is currently my second semester at FCC. I am taking intro to Media because it was originally a requirement for a graphic design certificate I signed up for. I now believe I will be switching to general studies because I am still unsure what it is I want to major in.
I have never had a blog, a Facebook, twitter, all the major social media websites I do not use. I am Microsoft savvy and am use to some computers. When I came to FCC I did not now how to use a Mac until I took my Graphic classes the first semester. The class I have enjoyed the most is TV Studio Production. I will post a video link of my final project at the bottom of this post. It was a lot of hand on experience I did some filming along with a role as the main characters rival.
I called the blog "An Otaku's Perspective". An otaku is a word meaning "fan", normally the term is used for anime fans. I am an an anime fan and therefore the perspective of my opinions will be shared as one. The time I use the internet is mostly to watch anime because only few is showed on american television, anime is mostly of the Asian culture.
Being an anime fan it has opened my favor in art and books. I no longer can draw or write like I use to but it does help me able to have a smart opinion on anime or manga (books). I am also a huge movie fan, Hayao Miyazaki is my favorite director he is an animated director. I watch mostly fantasy, anime, sifi, and action films.
My TV Studio class was very fun and the final project was the most enjoyable. The video is on YouTube and I believe the other video projects is also on YouTube by the same person who posted the final video up. before you watch it I want to say that its a live action version of the Super Smash Brothers Brawl game by Nintendo. We use the mods not the exact characters because we did not have the exact costumes. We have bloopers at the end. Enjoy the Video. Click!
